Chair - James R. Wilson

     James R. Wilson is a Trustee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts. Jim is an attorney who has practiced law in Hyannis, Massachusetts for thirty-five years. He has been an active member on many Cape Boards, Committees and Commissions and served for many years as the Town Counsel for the Town of Eastham.

     Jim is the Administrator for the Old King’s Highway Regional Historic District Commission, the largest regional Historic District in the country, covering an eighty square mile area that includes portions of the Towns of Sandwich, Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Brewster and Orleans. Jim is a graduate from Colby College (BA) and Suffolk University Law School (JD).

     Jim comes with a lifetime of preparation for the job as Chairman of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts, Inc. As he says, he “is almost a Cape Codder.” His ancestral roots go back fifteen generations to the earliest settlers of the Cape.

     A strong supporter of the preservation of the rich history and artistic tradition of the Cape Playhouse and Cape Cinema, he feels that he is following in his father’s footsteps. His father played an integral part in the establishment of the Raymond Moore Foundation, Inc., which has owned the Cape Cinema and operated the Cape Playhouse in Dennis for more than sixty years.

     Jim has enjoyed over fifteen years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Raymond Moore Foundation, Inc. and has been President of the Board for the last six years. He was recently re-elected to another one-year term as its President.  Jim is a resident of Yarmouth and has two grown daughters and a granddaughter who all live on the Cape.

Vice Chair - Robert Eldred, Jr.

          Bob Eldred’s family had its roots in Provincetown but he came to the Cape in 1945 at the age of 1.  He grew up in a home in front of the auction gallery on route 6A in East Dennis that his son lives in today.

     Bob’s connection to the Cape Playhouse began early.  His mother rented rooms to actors and actresses from the Playhouse. He remembers Shirley Booth and Henry Morgan among a number of others. He performed in several plays while in school.

     He graduated from Middlebury College with a degree in history.  He married his wife Mary Ann Giddings in 1968, came back to the Cape to work in the family Auction business and has been there ever since.

     He served for many years as a call EMT/fireman in Dennis, was chairman of the trustees of the Jacob Sears Library for many years, and has served for many years on the Shellfish Committee of the town.  He has conducted auctions for many of the Artistic, Church, Conservation, Police and other related charities on the Cape. He served as Master of Mount Horeb Lodge in South Dennis during the 1970’s. As an auctioneer selling Fine Art, Antiques, Books, and other highly collectible items he works with arts related people on a daily basis. He has two married children – Joshua who works for the Auction company and a daughter Sarah who lives with her husband in Lowell.

Treasurer - Robert W. Uek

     Robert Uek is a Trustee and Treasurer of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts.  Bob, a CPA, joined Coopers & Lybrand (C&L), a large international professional services firm, after graduate school where he spent his professional career. He specialized in serving financial services clients both in the US and internationally and was Chairman of his Firm’s Global Investment Company Industry Practice.  In 1999 he retired as a Senior Partner from C&L’s successor firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers.

     A strong believer in the missions of not-for-profit organizations, Bob, in addition to his role in the Raymond Moore Foundation and the Cape Cod Center for the Arts, currently serves as a Trustee and Treasurer of Anatolia College (in Thessaloniki, Greece), is a member of the Board of Overseers and Finance and Audit Committees of the New England Aquarium in Boston, is a member of the Board of Governors and on the Executive Committee of the Investment Company Institute in Washington DC and is a Director and Chairman of the Independent Directors Council in Washington DC . He also serves as Treasurer of the Pelican Bay Foundation in Naples, Florida.  With respect to publicly owned Corporate Boards, Bob serves as an Independent Trustee and Chairs the Audit Committee on the Board of Trustees of the MFS Family of Mutual Funds in Boston.  Bob is a graduate from Boston College (BS) and the University of Massachusetts (MS).

     Bob has been a seasonal resident in Dennis for over three decades. His principal residence is in Naples, Florida.  With his wife Mary, they have three grown children and six grandchildren, who all live in the Boston area.

Assistant Treasurer Richard B.Hawes, Jr.

     Richard B. Hawes, Jr, is a Trustee and Assistant Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts. Rick is a Management Professional specializing in Operations Management and has been a leader for over 35 years in several large national retail and food service organizations including divisions of Jewel Companies, Federated Department Stores and Pizza Hut of America. In 2006 he retired from Wendy’s International, Inc., where he served as a Franchise Area Director in the Northeast Region and then joined

Wend Management, LLC, as Vice President of Operations.

     A strong supporter of not-for-profit organizations, Rick, in addition to his role in the Raymond Moore Foundation, has participated in fund raising activities with Jack Williams and the Ski Race to benefit “Wednesday’s Child” and with Rhode Island Adoption Services and supports many local charitable initiatives.  Rick is a graduate of Northeastern University with a BS in Business Administration.

    With his wife Sheila, Rick has been a seasonal resident in East Dennis for over 30 years. They have two grown children and two grandchildren who live in the Boston area.

Secretary - Hon. Joseph Reardon

     Joseph J. Reardon is a Trustee and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts. While in private practice, he served as Counsel to the Town of Mashpee for seventeen years and as Counsel to the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire District for six years, leaving these positions to assume a judgeship. He is currently a member of the Massachusetts and Barnstable County Bar Associations, the American and Massachusetts Trial Lawyers Association, the City Solicitor and Town Counsel Association, the Massachusetts Judges Conference and the American Judges Association.  

      He married Eileen Elizabeth Lynch in 1960 and has resided with her since 1964 in the Town of Barnstable in the villages of Hyannis and Centerville where they raised their five daughters and two sons.  He is a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Centerville and continues to be active in the Massachusetts Society of the Sons of the American Revolution where he is State Chancellor and Secretary of the Cape Cod Chapter. He is an avid supporter of both local and regional theater and arts, holding season tickets and membership to numerous theater and arts organizations both on and off Cape.

       

Trustee - Katherine Dorshimer

     Katherine Dorshimer is a Trustee of the Board of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts.   She is also a member of the Board of the Raymond Moore Foundation, Inc. having served for 17 years as well as a past Treasurer.

     Katherine lived in Quincy and continued moving south to Cape Cod via Weymouth and Norwell, finally reaching her dream of living on Cape Cod in 1977, joining her husband, Richard Dorshimer, in managing his firm Dorshimer Investment Counseling.   Richard also served as a Trustee and Treasurer of the Raymond Moore Foundation; thus commencing Katherine’s fondness and reverence for the Cape Playhouse and Raymond Moore’s vision for an arts center. 

     In 1990, Katherine co-chaired with Sue Day the successful celebration of the life of Oscar and Emmy award winner Shirley Booth.  This tribute was held at the Cinema and attended by several actors (Gavin MacLeod, Patricia Neal, Theresa Wright), as well as local and county officials.  Katherine also served as Co-Chair with Chick Craig in the construction of the present box office.   She has been active in local and town organizations and served as a past President of the Northside Business AssociationAs Parish Council member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Centerville, Katherine chairs the Parish Life Committee and serves as parish representative to the Cape Cod Council of Churches.

     Katherine enjoys golf, sand in her shoes, and visits with her daughter and three granddaughters who live in New Hampshire (and love to attend the Playhouse Children’s Theatre).

Trustee - Donna Hebert

     From 1982 to the present, Donna Hebert has been the Co-Owner/Treasurer with her husband Ray of Stage Stop Candy, LTD.  She was a Dennis Chamber of Commerce member from 1982 to 2005, serving on the Government Affairs committee from 1985-1991 and on the Board of Directors from 1990-2000.

     Donna is an active member with the Boy Scouts of America.  She has been a Member Cape and Islands Council, BSA since 1985.  From 1985-1991 she served on the Troop committee/Treasurer Troop 82.  From 2000-present she has served on the Executive Board and from 1992-present she has been instrumental in the Dennis Salute to Scouting Breakfast.

     Donna was involved from 1986-1994 with the DY Band Parents Association, serving on their Board of Directors from 1986-1993 and as Chair-Ways and Means from 1991-1993.

     From 1984-present Donna has been a Eucharistic minister with Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich.  She is a current member of the Southside Civic Association and the Raymond Moore Foundation.

    Her two children flourished in the DY school system. Her daughter, Wendy and son-in-law (with two grandchildren) are both in finance and working in London. Her son Dan is a veterinarian in Rhode Island.

Trustee - Peter Murray

    Peter Murray is the President and co-owner with his wife and partner, Catherine Murray, of the Oceanside Insurance Group, a property and casualty insurance agency with offices in Hyannis, Wareham and West Dennis. He has served on the board of the Cape Cod Insurance Agents Association for many years. As a volunteer for the Housing Assistance Corporation, Peter is a teacher for the First Time Home Buyers Program.   He is a Graduate of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater arts and European history from Bates College.

    Peter has performed in or directed over 70 college, community, summer stock and children’s theater productions.  He served on the faculty of the Bates Summer Drama Institute training both students and teachers in the production and direction of high school theater.

    Along with Peter’s passion for the theater, he can be found boating and fishing on Lake Wequaquet or with Catherine, ballroom dancing the night away.

    Catherine and Peter live in Centerville where they enjoy regular visits from their two children, Cate and Christopher, who grew up and moved to “the city”.

Trustee - Richard Pickering

      Richard Pickering is the Associate Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations at Plimoth Plantation, the living history museum of the Wampanoag Homeland and 17th-century Plymouth Colony. He has been associated with Plimoth Plantation for more than 20 years and has served as historical role player, grant writer, exhibit developer, museum teacher and playwright. His interactive dramas So Dreadful A Judgment and I Would Be No Persecutor have been performed throughout New England, and at the UN at the request of the United States Delegation to the United Nations. He has spoken on 17th-century topics across the country as well as the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

      Pickering is currently a PhD candidate in English at the University of Connecticut, Storrs. In 2002 he was given an Aetna Award for Excellence in Teaching English and was also named Pedagogue of the Year by the university’s Student Government Association. When not at the museum or cracking the books, Mr. Pickering has the great joy to attend productions at the Cape Playhouse and serves as host for the cable access program The Cape Cod Center for the Arts Presents. One of his life’s greatest pleasures was overhearing Juliet Mills say: “He’s the Charlie Rose of Cape Cod.”
